The
Montessori Curriculum
The
Montessori curriculum is a carefully developed teaching method. It
is a hands-on approach that capitalizes on a child’s natural
curiosity and love of learning. It is a sequential and thorough
academic program that prepares children for the transition to
middle school and beyond, whether to a public, private, or
parochial school. In fact, most Montessori students are more
academically advanced than their non-Montessori peers.
We use materials in our
classrooms that Ms. Montessori designed herself. These materials
allow children to learn by doing as opposed to receiving lectures
or textbook assignments. We teach and encourage our students to
become self-motivated, independent learners . We focus on
quality education, rich in science, history, geography, and
math. The Colonel Shepard Montessori School offers Spanish to
all Kindergarten and Elementary students. We also have private
piano and computer lessons available during school hours.
